OVERVIEW
As the Senior UX Designer at Amazon, I led the creation of a comprehensive design system for the company’s career site. With the goal of enhancing consistency, usability, and scalability, this system was built to support over 1,400 pages—each tailored to meet the needs of a diverse global audience exploring career opportunities at Amazon.

Situation
The existing state of Amazon’s career site posed significant challenges. With over 100 million unique visitors annually, the platform was costly to maintain and offered limited flexibility for innovation. Inconsistent design patterns, accessibility shortcomings, and subpar mobile optimization created a fragmented user experience—ultimately contributing to missed opportunities in attracting and retaining top talent.
Task
Design and implement a scalable design system in collaboration with a new CMS partner, aimed at empowering page owners with intuitive, flexible page-building tools. The system needed to ensure consistency across all pages while meeting high standards of responsiveness and accessibility to deliver a seamless experience for all users.
Actions
DISCOVERY
Site Audit & Information Architecture
To lay the groundwork for the new design system, I began with a comprehensive site audit to identify recurring patterns and inconsistencies across the existing pages. I collaborated closely with content writers to construct a detailed site map, enabling better content categorization and improved discoverability.
DESIGN
Design System Development
Building on these insights, I created a scalable and accessible design system that enabled the creation of over 35 reusable modules. These standardized components ensured UI consistency, reduced code duplication, and supported rapid MVP development without compromising quality.
COLLABORATION
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Throughout the project, I partnered with content writers to ensure that new content could be seamlessly integrated using the newly developed modules. I also worked closely with our CMS partners to map data structures, ensuring each module was supported by the right backend configuration. Finally, I collaborated with developers to implement, test, and deploy the system across the platform, ensuring smooth execution from design to delivery.
Results
Pilot Launch & Validation
We successfully launched two pilot pages using our newly developed custom modules within the new CMS. These early implementations validated both the functionality and flexibility of the system in a live environment.
Modular System at Scale
To date, over 30 custom modules have been created and made available to teams. These modules empower page owners to independently build consistent, responsive, and accessible pages—without the need for developer support.
Cross-Functional Empowerment
The modular system enabled cross-functional teams—including writers, product owners, and designers—to contribute directly to the creation and maintenance of pages, streamlining collaboration and reducing bottlenecks.
Full Rollout
By the end of 2024, the design system and CMS integration had been fully rolled out to support all teams, job categories, locations, and evergreen content across the career site.
